Google today will launch YouTube Gaming which allows viewers to watch video games live on their web site. The new service which directly competes with Twitch.TV, allows gamers to record and stream live game-play directly to their YouTube Gaming Channel.
In addition, there are YouTube Gaming apps for both Android devices and iOS devices.
Gaming videos are one of the biggest searches on YouTube every month, next to funny cats of course, and Twitch.TV is one of the most popular and visited sites in the United States. There is no question that a YouTube Gaming App is needed, both for gamers and for YouTube to tap into the market share.
“YouTube Gaming is built to be all about your favorite games and gamers, with more videos than anywhere else. From “Asteroids” to “Zelda,” more than 25,000 games will each have their own page, a single place for all the best videos and live streams about that title. You’ll also find channels from a wide array of game publishers and YouTube creators.” YouTube said in its blog in June.
“Keeping up with these games and channels is now super easy, too. Add a game to your collection for quick access whenever you want to check up on the latest videos. Subscribe to a channel, and you’ll get a notification as soon as they start a live stream. Uncover new favorites with recommendations based on the games and channels you love. And when you want something specific, you can search with confidence, knowing that typing “call” will show you “Call of Duty” and not “Call Me Maybe.”
How do you start a YouTube Gaming Channel? We don’t know the specifics yet but will update this article when we do. So when is the YouTube gaming release date you may ask? Today, 8/26/2015 to be exact and the curtains will be unveiled at 1:00PM CST.
You can head over to Gaming.YouTube.com to begin creating custom channels and more once the service is launched later today.
