NVDIA has issued a voluntary recall of its 8-inch NVIDIA Shield tablets after they have received information and reports that the battery may overheat, catch fire or even explode.
Which ones are part of the recall? NVIDIA Shield tablets sold between July 2014 and July 2015 are included as part of the recall. NVIDIA is asking customers to submit a claim for a replacement device and they are also asking customers to stop using the recalled tablets immediate after backing up their data.
NVIDIA has setup a recall site, where customers can go to get their replacement tablet.
The NVIDIA Shield tablets were aimed towards gamers with their powerful specs and nearly 13 hour battery life. I’m sure they have a lot of angry gamers on their hands now, but kudos to NVIDIA for making the recall so customers can replace their defective devices.
