What’s Included With CREE LED Connected
So what exactly is included with the CREE Connected LED bulb? Exactly that, an LED bulb and that’s just about it. The front packaging of the product clearly shows its ZigBee compatible, like the WINK or SmartThings hub. It’s also a direct replacement for a 60 watt bulb, so you’ll find the same brightness as a regular 60 watt incandescent, but at a much lower energy cost and its a smart bulb as well!

The back of the box illustrates that its compatible with multiple systems and hubs that utilizes ZigBee technology. It also explains that the bulb is dimmable so you can set the perfect lighting for any situation.

After opening the box, you’ll find the package for the bulb itself which is housed in- between a clam shell packaging, but is easy to open.

The back of this packaging has all of the instructions that you need in order to get your new CREE Connected bulb up and running. It states that the Cree Connected LED bulbs must be paired one at a time however.

Then finally after opening the clam shell packaging we get our hands on the smart bulb itself! This bulb is very light weight – a lot lighter than most of my other non-smart LED bulbs that I already have in my home. I would say its similar in weight to a CFL bulb of the same size. The light bulb housing is made of plastic, there are also vents along the bottom for ventilation and also at the top. All of the electronics (smarts) of the bulb are housed in the bottom (dark grey) area of the bulb. Everything else is just like any other LED bulb on the market.

On the next page we’ll take a look at how easy or not so easy it is to setup a CREE Connected bulb on a Smart Home hub!
