IBM LinuxONE Mainframe System Released as Open Source

IBM said today that it is launching new mainframe servers that runs on Linux called LinuxOne.

LinuxOne Emperor would be geared towards large enterprises and can scale up to 8,000 virtual machines which would be the most for any single Linux system.

Another alternative is IBM LinuxONE Rockhopper which is a entry point into the LinuxONE systems that offers mid-sized companies the opportunity to take advantage of the solution on a smaller scale.
