Google Fiber Launches in San Antonio for 1.4 Million Residents

Google has announced today that it plans to bring its ultra high-speed fiber optic internet service to the great folks of San Antonio, Texas.

The construction of the new network won’t begin for several more months but once they get started its usually installed in a quick manner realtiviley speaking.

San Antonio has 1.4 million residents and is one of the biggest and fastest growing cities in the United States. San Antonio will be Google Fiber’s largest deployment of service to date.

Google Fiber says it will layout its plan for over 4,000 miles of fiber-optic cable, which is enough to stretch from Canada and back. Once the fiber is installed, Google will be able to provide customers with speeds up to 1Gbps.
