DJI’s New Phantom 3 Standard Quadcopter Priced For Beginners

DJI has just announced a new camera-based drone, the DJI Phantom 3 Standard edition. The Phantom 3 Standard quadcopter features a built-in HD video camera, follow-mode which allows the craft to follow you around, and boasts 25 minutes of flight time.

The Phantom 3 standard includes a gimbal that keeps things very steady when shooting the 12 megapixel camera or 2.7K HD video. You can also stream any video directly to your phone as you fly and can record at any time. Among other features, it has WiFi and an onboard GPS which it utilizes to track its own movements.

The DJI Phantom 3 Standard is priced at $799, a much cheaper alternative to its more pricier Phantom 3 models. DJI believes the lower-end price point will help get more pilots into the air to live their dream.

Some of the other features include; Point of Interest which allows the quadcopter to continuously face an object or subject and circle it automatically to keep camera focus on it which is great for aerial photography! It also features a waypoints option which allows you to plan flight paths that the Phantom 3 standard will fly autonomously, letting you control the focus of the camera. This helps you keep your hands off the flight controls and more on the shooting of video and photography. There’s also an Intelligent Orientation Control which allows novice pilots to pickup the controls more easily.

The DJI Phantom 3 Standard Quadcopter will begin shipping later this summer. More information at DJI’s web site.
