Apple Prevents App Reviews From Beta iOS Versions

Apple is officially no longer allowing users running beta versions of iOS to leave reviews and feedback on apps, something developers have been asking for since the beginning of time.

Beta testing new iOS versions can have unpredictable results with applications which have only been certified for released versions of iOS. Developers have no way to fully insure their applications will work properly with beta versions of iOS until they’ve had a chance to fully test the beta versions as well. This leads to users writing bad reviews for apps which aren’t yet working well with the new versions of iOS.

When attempting to write a review from a beta version of iOS users will receive the following message: “This feature isn’t available. You can’t write reviews while using a prerelease version of iOS.”

One question that does remain, is whether or not Apple is able or wiling to remove reviews that have already been left by users running beta versions of iOS. This would be a massive cleanup effort but would definitely level the playing field.
