Configuring OSRAM Lightify Bulbs on SmartThings Hub

I launched the Smartthings v2 Hub app and went to connect a new device. I did have to turn on and off the bulb about three times in a row, for the bulb to forget and disjoin the Lightify Gateway. You’ll know when you’ve done it correctly when the bulb flashes a few times after doing so. I did this to both bulbs but yet only the OSRAM Lightify LED Tunable White 60W bulb was found and not the Flood light. After a bit of research, I found that the flood light is not currently compatible with Smartthings. I contacted OSRAM and informed them of this and within 24 hours they got back with me and said it should work in SmartThings now. I did another scan and sure enough, the flood light was found in SmartThings, nice!

I went on and configured the 60W bulb by naming it and changing the room it was located in.

On the device itself within Smartthings you can control the on and off but also control the brightness and color all on one screen which I love!

The Smartthings Hub also gives me a LOT more flexibility with scheduling, automation, and control. I felt the OSRAM Lightify app has a ways to go with its development to provide similar functionality.

Read on to the next page and I’ll share my final thoughts and recommendations about the OSRAM Lightify system.
